Ozeri Wine Openers Category:

Ozeri Pro

An electric wine opener, sometimes I have even considered to write a letter to Ozeri just to let them know that their electric openers are gorgeous to look at, but can’t open a wine bottle as reliably as rabbits and sommeliers, even if you have been on your knees for 40 days praying that it would. Now they have the Ozeri Pro, for professionals I assume?

A friend of mine had this model and said that the manufacturers placed a timer in it so that the device would break after any possibility of returning the device for a new one was over. I was entirely shocked to hear this and decided to investigate, but it was a foiled investigation as mine did not come with a warranty, oh the small details which we seem to leave out.

Anyway the Ozeri Pro looks fabulous as usual, perched on its recharging base, looks may be deceiving, and this one has definitely shifted my attention away from its usability, but not for long as it was time to put it to the test. I handed my trusty sidekick (my wife, if she were to see this I would certainly have it handed out to me) a bottle of venture pinot noir, she began stripping the foil with the cutter that was snuggled at the top of the charging stand.

Foil removed, she proceeded to place the opener on top of the bottle with a push of the button the cordless opener began to emit a motorized sound, and before long the cork was removed.

Alright then enough with the Dick Tracy plot line, the wine opener actually works well, it may struggle once a while but it works. The battery that this thing uses last far longer than any that I have had before. Sadly this thing did not last, after a few dozen bottles, it decided to lose its strength.

Just when I thought I was going to have a way of opening wine bottles when my aging hands have lost all their strength, it decides to fail, so I guess the search continues for another more reliable electronic opener. But if you are a person who doesn’t open bottles every week then this Ozeri Pro Electric Wine Opener would be the right one for you.

Ozeri Nouveaux Electric Wine Opener

Another automated electronic wine opener from Ozeri, I didn’t quite approve of the Maestro version much, but things may be different with this Ozeri Nouveaux Electric Wine Opener.

You see the thing about electronic wine openers is that they aren’t awfully reliable, some may be strong while others weak, so you never know what you get, the thing you can be certain when buying this is that you definitely get what you see on the adds, the most highlighted feature probably, the looks.

This Ozeri Nouveaux Electric Wine Opener looks good; it’s a definite buy for those who are keen on beauty and elegance, something that would compliment a well aged bottle, depending on which of the three colors you choose. It has a curve at the bottom which lets it stand on its own with no assistance from a base or holster. The transparent bottom might not be of any benefit to the quality or performance of the opener but it does make it look great as it glows with a faint blue light every time you use it to open a bottle, it even glows when you plug it in for a charge.

Now comes the important aspects of this opener, whether it lives up to its looks or is just another decorative addition to your cellar, well honestly the opener works fairly well, it removes the toughest of corks with no worries, and it’s not hard at all, just push the button and it works for you.

The battery for this opener is surprisingly long lasting as well; it’s not entirely large, so you wouldn’t expect that much long lasting capabilities, they are confident enough to say it opens up to 60 bottles in a single charge on Amazon.

So aside all that wonderful clockwork going on with this electronic opener you must wonder if there is a catch, or a downfall perhaps? Well not quite a big deal but not something you would expect from an opener of this caliber, it seems the foil opener located at the top of the unit requires that you pull it off, but after a few careless moves you will eventually break the plastic ridge that holds the foil cutter, so that means no more fancy looks, the foil cutter works fine, for the price they should have invested in better researching towards the design.

Overall I am quite fond of the looks and the surprising performance of this Ozeri Nouveaux Electric Wine Opener, but I would still prefer regular levers and sommeliers to automatics any day.

Ozeri Maestro Electric Wine Opener

So let’s see, Ozeri Maestro Electric Wine Opener has a beautiful design, a built in thermometer and an overall automatic wine opener, what could go wrong?

Well to be honest automated wine openers are something that I usually avoid, drawing the cork form the bottle has been something like a tradition in the art of wine tasting, it is entirely significant and symbolic to me, the faint “pop” that a bottle of vintage fermented “Cabernet Sauvignon” would make after you draw the cork with a wine key is something that makes the wine even more valuable at the end of its long wait.

But enough of me, let’s look at what this robot has in store for those who decide to buy it. The biggest highlight for this Ozeri Maestro Electric Wine Opener would be that it comes with a built in thermometer that tells you the room temperature and the temperature of the wine.

You may be wondering “room temperature”? Well any wine connoisseur will tell you that each wine will have a different temperature in which they are made, and the room temperature has to be a little higher than their storage temperature to release the flavorful aroma from your wine.

So this thermometer is really handy, especially since you don’t have to stick it in the bottle, it uses infrared beams to tell the temperature, but this does not work on kegs and barrels since they are not transparent.

But the thermometer is only useful if it can provide accurate readings; this one only does it 60% of the time, not something you would call ideal at all, so it’s best to be sure with a regular 100% accurate mercury thermometer.

The digital LCD screen makes it easy to read, unlike the old fashioned thermometers that require your eyes to be at the exact level of the mercury indicator to avoid any inaccurate readings.

The set comes in a stylish black box, this would work well as a gift, and on display the charger base does look good next to a bottle of dark red, and it also comes with a foil cutter that can be stored on the base.

This opener holds its charge fairly long; you can use it to open up quite a number of bottles on a single charge. About the opening, well let’s say it will remove the cork entirely on some occasions but usually you will have to pull the cork out yourself, good thing is that it does not tear the cork.

Well I wouldn’t use this Ozeri Maestro Electric Wine Opener unless my guests would want me too, it just looks great and is really fancy, but I wouldn’t say it’s entirely reliable, thermometer and all I will definitely give this to my friends, with a complimentary bottle of course.
