Whenever you handle something of quality you can be certain of it immediately, and with this waiters friend from Screwpull I recognized the feel of a good wine opener, this Screwpull Waiter Style Corkscrew is probably something I would use as a bench mark to what a good wine opener could be, but without using it you never know how it could perform, so I decided to give it a run.

The size if perfect, it may be small but when unfolded, it sizes up generously into your palm, this is something that you should take into consideration, the size of the grips plays an important role in the ability to draw the cork, as a smaller sized one will leave you with sores, so this Screwpull Waiter Style Corkscrew has the size needed to lift a great number of bottles with ease.
Being a corkscrew one can never forget the importance of the worm, without it you are left with a knife that won’t really work well as a self defense tool. The worm is coated with a layer of Teflon, this makes it slip in and out of corks with ease, you can be certain that it is properly protected from rust.
The lever is well made, it sits neatly on the sides of the bottle, being entirely sturdy you are confident when opening any bottle; this is probably the best feature of a sommelier knife, its simplicity and overall usefulness.
The foil cutter is ever present, it has a well made blade, depending on the individual the blade can be used at a number of angles, I personally don’t bother with the foil so stabbing it or tearing it off with the blade is not a problem, but the knife having its classic design is made to cater for other sommeliers as well, say those who are neat and want to run the tip neatly along the grooves of the bottle, allowing for a clean uniform slice.
After a few uses, well even from the first use I realized that this knife is great, but not amazingly great, it could be a misinterpretation of mine but I feel as if this wine key does not work as well as other screwpull wine keys, I have no problem using this, and nothing seems to be going wrong, as I said probably a misinterpretation.
This Screwpull Waiter Style Corkscrew is the best sommelier knife to get, some may find it big but I am certain everyone regards this as one of those things that are all about quality, and for its price you would be out of your mind to not want one.
